We're pleased to offer the following services at A Gentle Vet:
Our appointment book is computerized, which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come in immediately. If possible it is best to call before coming in so that a staff member can advise you on your particular emergency.
At A Gentle Vet we are excited to offer a wide variety of dental procedures to care for your pet(s). With each dental procedure we tailor our treatments to your pet’s individual need. Aside from a standard cleaning scaling and polishing of you furry family members teeth all dental cleanings include full mouth dental X-Rays to assess the overall health of your pets teeth below the gum-line (where disease can hide from the naked eye).
We also offer a variety of treatments to address specific problems we may find at a regular wellness check or during a dental procedure. These include but are not limited to
- Synthetic bone grafting
- Closed root planing
- Correction of periodontal pocket(s)
- Bonded sealant(s) and restoration(s) of fractured teeth
If your pet requires advanced imaging rest assured that their needs can be address. We are proud to have recently upgraded our radiology suite with a Cannon digital radiology system, the same system that can be found in several veterinary teaching and referral hospitals
If more advanced imaging is required we team up with local experts and can perform ultrasounds, echocardiograms, rhinoscopy and other endoscopic procedures right here in our clinic. For CT scans and MRI we partner with local facilities to have these performed.
At A Gentle Vet we are excited to offer cryosurgery for the removal of benign skin masses, pre-cancerous growths, benign eyelid masses and small cysts on the skin. Cryosurgery is the use of extreme cold to destroy diseased or abnormal tissues. This treatment is minimally invasive and can be done with minimal restraint or sedation. Cryosurgery results in minimal scarring and therefore reduces overall cost. Please consult with our veterinarians if cryosurgery is right for your pet.
We have a veterinarian and personnel on duty six days a week who are trained and equipped to handle any urgent care your pet has. Usually an emergency team consists of at least one veterinarian and several technicians working together to save a pet's life. Emergencies can be things such as accidental ingestion of rat poison, hit by car, and chocolate ingestion. If you ever feel that your pet needs emergency treatment do not hesitate to call or come in immediately.
We are also available for urgent care when the condition is not life-threatening. If you feel your pet needs to be seen before you are able to get an appointment, our veterinarians will work to "squeeze" you in between scheduled appointments. When you arrive, our receptionists will be able to give you an estimate on how long you may have to wait in order to be seen.
Dr. Olson is a USDA APHIS certified veterinarian. This means he can not only write health certificates for domestic travel but international certificates if you and your furry family are going abroad. International travel or even domestic travel to places such as Guam or Hawaii can be quite involved. Please check with your destination well in advance of arrival to avoid any complications. This process can take several months. Please contact our helpful staff and we can either answer your questions directly or point you in the right direction
*Always check with your specific airline(s) for details on their regulations when travelling with a pet
We offer a variety of soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries at A Gentle Vet. Whether your new pup needs to be neutered or spayed or your pet is in need of more advanced procedures, our veterinarians can walk you through the process.
At A Gentle Vet we offer an ovariectomy for young female dogs and cats. This procedure is the removal of just the ovaries for a spay instead of the ovariohysterectomy (ovaries and uterus) spay. Although both are safe procedures an ovariectomy has been shown to result in smaller scarring and fewer complications. Ask our doctors if an ovariectomy is right for your pet.
At A Gentle Vet, we can care for many types of pets:
